I have always been a big fan of vest tops. Baggy black or blue jeans and a black or purple vest top was pretty much my, self imposed, ‘uniform’ for many years. I’ve not been wearing them as much for a while, though, choosing to wear prettier things, nicer coloured things. This has been pretty weird for me, and for the fiance, but we’re coming to terms with it, haha.
A couple of weeks ago in Primark I noticed a rail of vests that weren’t the standard, block, bright colours; not a black, red, bright pink or purple in site! These were softer, more muted shades and instantly I was distracted with that ‘OoooOooh’ I’m sure many of us get in primark. There’s nothing That special about these vests, they’re just really nice, different shades. That first visit I just got the really pale, dusky pink colour but I loved it so much I went back, yesterday, to get some more. At £2 each, how could I not? I picked up the lovely ‘mink’ coloured one and a lovely pinky mauve coloured one, too. A standard grey marl one jumped into my hand, too, but even that’s pretty different for me these days! But anyway, thought I’d share these, something just a little different, for primark, a nice little change. They have shown up more like pastels in my photos, but you’ll just have to take my word for it that they’re a very different set of shades, compared to what you normally get in vests at primark.
|The mauve looks a bit purple in photos|
On that first visit I also saw some looser fit, sheer cotton tops. They’re listed as the ‘My textured tee’ range and I decided to get the cream one. I love the really subtle pattern, it’s pretty much just a plain, sheer top but at some angles you see the pattern and it’s just a bit different. So, again, I popped back to get some more. There were Loads of different colours and designs but I opted for the black one (I guess I still can’t help myself when it comes to black tops, sometimes) and a purple colour. The purple one doesn’t have the design in it, it’s not quite as sheer fabric, but just as nice! They’re £3 each and if they’re all like the cream one, they’re so so comfy to wear and look nice with some skinny jeans.
I also got a few other bits, but they’re for my birthday from my mum so they’ve been put away for a couple of weeks. But primark really is quite good at the moment, I could’ve easily spent double, triple what I spent, but am really happy with my purchases.
I’ve never shopped at Top Shop much. I have had a few bits over the years, and had a couple of maternity vests when pregnant with the boy, but what with being utterly uninterested with fashion it never really called out to me. But, of course, I now know about their cosmetics range, and beauty and fashion have more involvement in my life now! It turns out that my local store only has a few nail polishes… bit disappointing! I did have a quick look in sale, though. Got this lovely mauvey top, it’s a size 12 but meant to be a looser fit so I don’t mind, got some wooley tights which were £2 and these, four, stacker rings for £1.50! I can’t wear them all at the same time, it’s just too much, but I really love one of them, and even two together quite works, and for £1.50 it hardly matters.
Lovely lovely bargains and although I know what I’m getting for my birthday, I just can’t wait. I’ve never done an ootd post but with my new birthday dress I just might have to…
