Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter - Review

It seems only right that this is one of the first products that I review, properly, from Soap and Glory because it's one of the first products of theirs that I owned. It wasn't the first but it was amongst the first five and it was a truly, wow, product.

There's no need for suspense in this post, I love this product and am not even going to bother delaying that 'reveal'.

If saying it isn't enough, here's a little proof. This photo shows the current, three, tubs of Righteous butter that I own, and I only just finished a 300ml tub! I'm currently using the, massive, 1ltr tub which I am in love with simply because it's so so so huge - All brands should do giant versions of products like this (ok maybe not All brands, but you know what I'm saying) (Soap and Glory should Also do more massive sizes of their products, which they have hinted they Are going to do!)

Just a quick aside, about the giant tub. As well as being over three times the size of the standard tub, this stuff contains a lovely shimmer which gives an all over body glow. Now I know shimmer isn't for everyone, if you're not a fan then it might be better to stick with the standard size. But it's not the most glaring of shimmer, it's nice and gentle and if worn right can be just lovely - Below is a swatch on my hand, as always, click for full size if you want as it's going to show the shimmer better.

Anyway, more about the product in general. It's hard to know where to begin, this butter is just so perfect it feels like I shouldn't need to justify it... but if you insist.

This stuff is exactly the consistency that a body butter should be, it's almost solid and you really need to scoop it out of the tub. There are some who don't like this product for exactly this reason, but I am quick to suggest that, maybe, they don't want a body butter then, they'd be better suited to a lotion (Righteous butter lotion anyone?!). But, if you Do want a butter but are finding this sort of product hard to use then have you been applying it to damp skin? If not, give it a go, it makes a big big difference in application!

I promise you, I did nothing to that, it just happens to look like a happy face naturally - You can see that, right? It's not just me?

But anyway... yes, we're applying it to damp skin and it rubs in a million times more easily. It does still sit on the skin a little, but once you've rubbed it in enough and let it settle it will sink in eventually, and believe me, it's worth the wait!

My skin has Never been so soft as it is since I started using Soap and Glory products, and this is the one that  I use more than any other. It makes the dry patches on elbows and knees smoother and everything is just much more soft and supple, it does exactly what it's meant to do and it feels like absolute luxury when you do so.
There's been one thing I've, deliberately, not mentioned yet and that's the scent. Oh, the scent! And it's that that is why this is the product that I use the most, I do have other Soap and Glory butters which, also, have a fantastic formula, but it't the scent of this that brings me back time after time. It, is, heavenly. It's sweet, it's fruity, it's just.... oh goodness, it's probably my favourite scent, ever. And this is coming from someone who's normally more a fan of more simple scents, chocolate, vanilla etc, basic, one overriding smell. But with this, there's so many facets to it, it's just beautiful. It's S&G's 'Original Pink' scent and, thankfully, it features in many of their products (yup, I have a Lot of them). The Fiance even recognises this on other people as I smell of it so much (and make him smell it in products from time to time... yeah I do)

This product isn't cheap, it's not a massive bargain, but I also think that it's not over priced and if you get it at the right time it Can be a bargain. A 300ml tub lasts me Ages, I use this a few times a week at least and my 300ml tub lasted me months. The 300ml tub is £10.50, the massive tub is limited edition but when it is available is/was £25 and the mini which is 50ml is £2.50. Lasting ages aside, you can often get S&G for 3for2 in Boots (S&G retails, primarily, at boots) so imagine how reasonable it is when you get it combined with other similar priced items.

If you want to try this out I really recommend the miniatures, that's where I started and I never looked back - Even the mini lasted me quite a while. Also, don't forget, to be in for a chance of winning a mini of this exact product then you can enter my giveaway HERE

I've not really mentioned the packaging, because you can see it and see how eye catching it is. Most S&G products are in the lovely, bright pink packaging and have a B+W retro photograph of some sort on them. Before I started using the products I was put off, a little, by the packaging as I thought it might be a gimmick, leaving the products with something to be desired. I was wrong - They have great packaging And great products!

Yup. Long post for just one body butter isn't it? Maybe you can see why I say I'm so in love with Soap and Glory - Maybe that's why you should give them a try?!

  5. I can't believe I've never known that they do such big sizes, definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for these! Do they stock them in boots or do you have to get them online?

  6. I might be wrong but I Think it's an online exclusive, but it's out of stock on boots website at the mo. That might mean it's not available as they said it was ltd edition but it was available for ages so it might have ended now. But, fingers crossed, they might bright it back if people ask nicely enough and they have asked on the fb what other giant versions people would like so definitely worth keeping an eye out! Xx
