Miss Glossybox - September / October 2013 - Unboxing

I really was planning on only getting the Miss Glossybox for one month to see what it was like but I genuinely forgot to cancel it - I'm quite glad I did, though, considering the contents of this months box. If I'd been paying for my birchbox and glossybox rather than them being subscriptions/birthday gifts then I'd not want to afford an extra box in the form of Miss Glossybox but because they're already paid for etc it doesn't feel so bad!

The obligatory holding photo to prevent people seeing spoilers they don't want - A lovely bright yellow bag housed this seasons items; would've been a nice summer colour but hardly important.

As you can see, even from this photo, a nice selection of goodies this month!

Most people aren't too pleased with a small vial of perfume as part of a beauty box, but considering that there are a lot of other items in the box, this doesn't seem too bad. I did get this same sized sample, for free, from Superdrug recently with a free order, so that does sort of put it in to perspective But the up side is that this fragrance by Katy Perry is amazing and I Love it. Killer Queen is a sweet scent but with a hint of spice that stops it from being overly sweet - The 50ml version of this sells for £29.50.

This is a soft touch eyeliner by JvG - I was quite hoping that it'd be a charcoal colour, because of the shade of the outside of the pencil, but it turns out it's black. It has got a very nice, creamy texture though and I'll be interested to see what it's like to wear. This is a full sized product and retails for £6.95

Adding a bit of variety into the contents of the box is this Anti Blemish solution by Skinetica. The little leaflet with the box says that it's a gel but it seems to be more of a liquid solution - Either way, I like anything that may help with blemishes. I'm not totally sure about the ingredients in this, there's not many of them and one of the main ones is ethyl alcohol but I will still give it a try. I don't know how big this sample is but it seems a decent enough size to get a good idea as to whether or not it works. The full size of this is 80ml and retails for £6.99.

I'm quite a fan of the NYC 'In a New York Minute' polishes so this one in the shade 'Times Square' will make a nice addition to my collection. It's a hard colour to show properly on photograph but it's almost a true red but with a slight creamy hint to it and a touch of pink which makes it a nice shade. I look forward to giving this a go. This is a full sized polish and these are a real bargain buy at £1.79.

I've tried a couple of 'Beauty UK'  products before, so I'm interested to try another. This is one of their 'Posh Pout' tinted lip balm in a pencil form.

This shade is called 'Sugar Plum Fairy' and it's a lovely sheer pinky plum shade with a hint of shimmer. I really like the shade and I think it's going to be a fantastic shade to go into Autumn/winter with in terms of giving the option of a sheer colour rather than something too bold. These retail at £2.99 and I may well look in to getting my hands on some more of these if I like this one as much as I anticipate.

This months extra is a little compact mirror which is advertising the new album As you can see, even from this photo, a nice selection of goodies this month! 'English Rain' by Gabrielle Alpin. It's quite plastic feeling but is a lovely idea to promote music and the picture is lovely. It'll definitely come in handy.

All in all I'm impressed with this Miss Glossybox - This is exactly what I was expecting from them; a good mix of bargain high street cosmetics plus some bargain skincare in for the mix. The value is good and the variety is nice - I'll use all of these products and expect to love most of them.

  1. I love the idea of beauty boxes every month- I really need to subscribe to one! I love the variety of things you receive in them but I think my favourite in this pack has to be the Beauty UK tinted lip balm :)

    1. Good choice of favourite, I wore it yesterday and it's soo nice

I am a bit addicted to beauty boxes at the moment - Thankfully I've been really lucky to get my glossybox sub from my fiance for my birthday and was super lucky to get an amazing deal on extending birchbox so I actually only pay for miss glossybox bimonthly and love me beauty box every month. Once my subs run out, though, I won't be keeping them on, just can't afford it. Just hope they all stay good whilst I've got them :) xx

  2. Lovely selection, I think I'm just slightly too old for the Miss version. I had the Skinetica in one of the normal Glossyboxes and I love it, it really seems to work for me (that and sleeping on my back for the last few months. I actually buy the full sized version now and I'm not usually one for using anything regularly!

    1. Don't think your much older than me Sharon but I do know what you mean - I love that the miss version is primarily make-up, and it's high st, and it's cheaper and bi monthly - But I do have concerns that some months might just be too young.

Ooh wow that gives me a little more hope for the stuff, I'll give it a go if it works so well for some people - I'm totally the same, the only reason I've not done any skincare routine posts is because I keep changing my mind about products lol xx

    2. I'm just over the 30 mark, I always think 30 might be the cut off point with some things, although I'm sure they don't enforce age bans :) One of the reasons I like the main Glossybox is the luxury samples but sometimes I wish it included more make-up, that tinted lip balm is really nice. If I had a teenage daughter I'd certainly be getting this for her.

I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on Skinetica, I feel it removes more gunk than others and I felt my skin looked clearer when I managed to use it regularly. xx

    3. I do know exactly what you mean - I like the lux samples but then I do like to be able to repurchase things which I like from a box which is infinitely more likely with this than the main. I think, for someone older, this box is limited - I love the things I got this time but how many nail polishes, eye liners and lip balms do I need? As I feel that those are the sorts of thing that'll be included regularly (am 27 by the way so really not far off)

I'll definitely give it a go and post something up once I have xx
