MUA: Make Up Academy - Smokin' Palette swatches and first reaction

Today I got the most amazing two packages from MUA and I have got so so many lovely new items, swatches and recommendations to share with you all. I'd have to say, though, that the new 'Smokin' Palette' is the standout item, for me, it's just absolutely stunning. I think, though, that the best way to show you that is less typing, more photo sharing, so here goes.

I know there's a variety of opinions on the new, rectangular, pans in these newer MUA palettes and I have to say I quite like them. It's a great use of space and has a really nice, quality look.

This palette was £6 rather than the standard £4 which MUA palettes normally go for. I've seen people have issue with products that are slightly more than average but just look at the size of those pans, there's a Lot of product in there, not to mention the fact that there's a khol pencil included And it's an amazing palette too - I'm happy to have paid £6 for this, easily.

So, first three shades. Left to right we have Glory, Boudoir and Ghost.

Both Glory and Boudoir are nice, soft neutral matte shades. It's clear they're not as pigmented as the more shimmery/metallic shades but for matte colours I think they come out quite nicely and they'll make good shades for bases and highlight.

Ghost is a shade that I Love. A metallic taupey sort of shade it's just got such depth and strength and I think it'll make some absolutely stunning looks. These stronger coloured shades in this palette are So Amazingly creamy and dense it's astounding. MUA shadows are good, these are Good.

Next we have the shades Fantasy, Mythical and Broken.

Again the first two, Fantasy and Mythical, are matte shades (though I keep wondering if I can see a hint of glitter in Mythical but I'm probably making it up) - Again, they're good shades. Fantasy is a nice medium-dark brown and will make a lovely contour shade and Mythical is so well pigmented that it'll be fantastic for a range of things.

Broken is another 'Wow' shade. A deep, metallic bronze is just stands out as such a rich colour that will really add such life to a look. It's the same, buttery formula as I mentioned before and it just applies amazingly. I cannot wait to get using this on my eyes rather than just being able to stare lovingly at the swatches.

I won't say wow again because you can see the same swatches I can, but yeah. These shades are called Icon, Unleash, Chaos and Wicked.

All four of these are the same shimmer/metallic shades as Ghost and Broken and they apply in the same way as I described earlier. With these four shades included in the palette it becomes something that opens up such a wide avenue of possibilities of looks. The mixture of staple neutrals mixed with these stunning, vibrant shades is a wonderful balance and will allow a great range of simplicity and creativity, subtlety and wow factor all in one little case.

What can I say? I like it. I definitely think that MUA have outdone themselves this time and this will become a staple palette for so many. I cannot wait to start experimenting with these gorgeous shades.

As I said at the beginning of the post I have a Lot of other products coming up to share with you including the Matte palette, some of the Matte lipsticks, some more shades of the Fashionista eye shadows and the three remaining Colour blast pencils that I didn't have before. 3. I love this palette. The shades that aren't pigmented are buildable I'm sure. And all you need is a primer for them to last. But I can see why you said wow a million times the she's are lovely.
