This has been an exciting time for me, regarding Birchbox – A lovely lady from their team got in touch with me a few weeks ago to set up an opportunity for me to work along side them in a couple of different things. Firstly they sent me two, yes two, of the gorgeous ‘Nude ‘tude’ palette by The Balm – I had one to review and one to giveaway to one of my fantastic readers! If you’d like to be in for a chance of winning one of these stunning palettes then please enter my giveaway HERE
And, as if that wasn’t enough, the second opportunity I’ve been given is to give a special offer to you, my readers! I’ve got a very special code that, if you enter during checkout for a box/subscription, before the 1st December then the code will give you 100 reward points which will total £10 to spend in the birchbox store! Not bad at all I don’t think (there’s some fab things that you could use that £10 towards!) The code to enter during checkout is – BBXPettit
If the £10 reward points aren’t something you’re interested in then here’s an alternative code which will get you a trio of fab beauty bits by Reverence de Bastien, Aromatherapy Associates And Model Co – The code works the same way, enter at checkout and ends on 1st December, you can only use one code but either of them gets you something great – BBXPettit2
To get either of these deals pop on to the Birchbox shop and sign up, using which ever code you decide to use when you check out – www.birchbox.co.uk
And, without any more babbling, here’s my post for the November box!
Daft, I know, but I’ve been really hoping to get one of the teal coloured boxes – No real reason, they just look so pretty!
As with the previous box we’ve got the fun little cards rather than a magazine – A definite win, for me, much easier to have a quick look through them and see the things which interest you; plus they’re quirky and full of interesting bits and bobs.
A rather nice example of the cards.
And on to the contents of the box – Yup, you’re seeing correctly, there’s Another Laura Mercier product in there this month; amazing!
I’ve seen Matriskin products before, in fact I think it’s the exact same serum that I have had in a different beauty box previously. Thankfully it’s a product that really intrigues me and has some really interesting claims ‘Hyaluronic acid and 47 different peptides work together to plump, regenerate and restructure the skin’ – I’m rather happy to get a second sample of this as I’ll have an even better chance at seeing whether the claims are at all accurate. This is a nice 7.5ml of product and a full sized ‘Collagen MP Serum’ can cost from £80.50 so it’s a pretty high value sample.
Yup, there’s a perfume sample in here too – Ordinarily a bit of a dud but because there’s so many other things in the box I really don’t mind this month. The perfume is a 2ml vial of ‘English Laundry by Christopher Wicks’ – It’s quite a gentle fragrance and I quite like it, but I can’t work out what it reminds me of! Prices for a full size of this fragrance begin at £16.
I’m always pleased to see a Weleda product in a box – They’re a brand I’ve tried various products by and I really like them. This is a nice 18ml tube of their ‘Oat Replenishing Shampoo’ which is said to be gentle and help reduce breakage. I use quite basic shampoos but I’ll definitely be intrigued if a brand, one day, makes me hair so much more amazing so samples are more than welcome. The full size of this product costs £8.95.
And here’s the second Laura Mercier product from Birchbox in two months! The ‘Long Lash Mascara’ is a very welcome addition to this box, for me, I’m thrilled to be able to try another product by this iconic brand.
As you can see it has a really slim, bristled brush which I’m really interested in trying out. Very excited by this 5.67g sample – A full size is £18.50 (which would only be £8.50 if you got your free 100 reward points for signing up… it had to be said hehe!)
If I’d got this product a couple of months ago I’d never have heard of the brand but because I’ve been watching a few unboxing videos from the US I’ve actually seen this brand a couple of times. This is the ‘Highlighter Pencil’ by Chella – This is either full size or a very large sample, it’ll definitely last a Long time.
The pencil is really nice and creamy and is lovely to apply. I can’t see much shimmer or glitter in it so it seems to maybe be a highlight based on its shade rather than by illuminating? I’m very very interested to see how this works. A full size of this costs £15.95.
On to the extras. I know quite a number of people don’t like to see teas in their boxes but when this is an extra, on top of a really decent box, I’m quite happy to see them. I’m a big tea drinker anyway. I could smell something cinnamon from the moment I opened the box which was rather interesting – I’m not sure what I think of a cinnamon tea but I’ll definitely give it a go. There’s three of these teas by Pukka Herbs and the one I’m most interested in is the ‘Elderberry & Echinacea’
Last but not least we have a Birchbox pencil sharpener. I think this is a great idea on behalf of the team, there’s been so many times I’ve seen people complain when they get a larger pencil (like the Chella one) because they don’t have a sharpener big enough to use it – Well now you do! It’s not the strongest feeling plastic, but it’s got a nice cover to help reduce mess and it has one of the little plastic pieces that can be used to push built up product reside out of the mechanism of the sharpener – Nice little details.
All in all? I’m rather pleased with this box! Two decent sized make-up products, one by Laura Mercier! Some skincare, some haircare, a fragrance, tea and a tool. The value of the box is really good and the variety of products is impressive not to mention the well known brands. A good box, Birchbox, a very good box indeed.
Don’t forget to use my code to get 100 reward points in to your account if you sign up and don’t forget to check out my giveaway!
