If you happen to read the blog over at the Manuka Doctor site then you may already have seen this post as I wrote it after they, kindly, asked me to do a guest post for them once I’d used the ‘Api Clear Blemish Cream’ often enough that I felt ready to review it. For anyone that hasn’t seen that post then here’s my review!
Ever since I started reading blogs I’ve always look to them for reviews. I can’t remember the last time I ordered a beauty product without checking one or two reviews, or more – Other than the Manuka Doctor ‘Api Clear – Blemish Cream’ that is. I don’t know what it was but months and months ago I saw this and I just wanted it.
There was no founding on my obsession with getting this product but I am so glad that I did!
According to the Manuka Doctor website the Api Clear range:
‘• Helps eliminate blemishes
• Nurtures cell regeneration
• Aids renewal of damaged skin cells
• Helps reduce the appearance of scars & wrinkles
• Supports anti-ageing’
With active ingredients of purified bee venom, manuka honey and propolis this whole range seems so, very interesting and their claims, if accurate, could be fantastic.
I’ve been using the cream once or twice a day on various types of blemishes for a few weeks now. Honestly? I like it a lot. It’s not a miracle cream – By that I mean that your blemishes don’t disappear in a puff of smoke, they don’t even vanish within a few hours as many spot treatments seem to claim – But I found that it Does help to bring the nastiness out of a blemish and it Does help to reduce them and clear them within a really short amount of time, much shorter than normal for me.
If you’re looking for something to make them vanish instantly then you’re going to be having a Very long wait because I don’t think that any product does that, but if you’re looking for something that does help to clear them and does it in a way that doesn’t dry out your skin and aggravate it then this could well be the cream for you.
When I apply the cream I feel a gentle, warm tingling sensation – It’s nothing like the stinging tingle that you get with more aggressive blemish treatments, it’s actually quite pleasant. I do like the fact that you feel something, though, when something has active ingredients I like to feel that tingle of activity!
Initially I was enticed by the fact that it’s a cream product – Most blemish products are gel, or liquid, something quite astringent and they dry your spot out with alcohol or acids. I’ve had a variety of experiences with them but one thing I Have found is that on the rare occurrences that they help clear a spot they also dry the skin out so badly that it takes me just as long to heal from that as it would have for the blemish to clear in its own time.
This is most definitely Not the case with the Api Clear blemish cream. The only time that I had dry skin when using this was when I had a blemish that resulted in broken skin and that alone is a good thing but this goes beyond that because rather than making that dry skin worse, it actually made it better. The marks left by my blemishes have healed So much quicker since I’ve been using this cream and that’s just as important to me as evacuating the blemish in the first place because with incredibly slow healing I can end up with the left overs of a spot for flipping ages!
All in all I am going to keep using this cream. I like it a Lot. It may not be what some people are expecting but I think that people expect far too much from blemish products anyway – If any of them worked instantly then none of us would have blemishes any more, would we? But this ticks every box for me and more because I find that my skin is just doing wonderfully now, when all I asked for was a few less blemishes!
