Definitely getting the Christmas theme, this month, with Miss Glossybox – Loving the design around the edge of the card and the deep red bag (it’s actually a little deeper than the camera picks up even)
As you may remember Miss Glossybox is bi-monthly and costs £7 + £2.95 p+p so works out cheaper than the standard Glossybox. I’m not sure how long I’ll be subscribing but I have enjoyed the boxes thus far and this is no exception. There’s a clear theme with these boxes/bags, as they’re aimed at a younger market, so you are getting products that might be more purse friendly, more highstreet brands and, also, more aimed at younger skin – If you’re in your later 20’s, like me, the box can still work for you as a cheaper alternative to GB but it won’t work for everyone.
First thing I saw was this perfume sample (yup, the bane of box subscribers!) – I’m not, totally, against fragrance samples as long as there are other decent things in the box to balance it out. This is a sample for Lacoste’s ‘Touch of Pink’ – I used to wear this scent many years ago so don’t need to spray it – It’s nice enough and I think plenty of people would enjoy it. It’ll be going in to a giveaway I expect.
At first glances I was disappointed by this because, in the lower light, it looked like a duplicate of a Jelly Pong Pong pencil that I’ve had in a different box – Thankfully, though, when I got a better look at it I saw that it was a bronze shade rather than the plum shade I’d got previously. I quite like Jelly Pong Pong products so I’m sure I’ll find a use for this 2-in-1 Eyeliner &Shadow.
You can see that the pigmentation is nice, here, but it looks mostly brown. The pencil is nice and soft so I’m interested to find out about how it works as a shadow, how well it would blend.
Patted out slightly, and in better light, you can see the more bronze tones in the shade. This seems like a nice product and these pencils (which are full size) retail at £10.50 so with this item alone we’re above the cost of the box.
I was rather surprised to see a brand like Dermalogica in a box like this (remember my previous mention of more high street brands?) – But at the same time was very pleased to see it.
I don’t really use foaming face washes, but from a brand like this I think I’ll definitely be giving it a go – This is a good example of how the box is aimed at the teen market, working on the assumption that they’ll have blemish prone skin – Of course teens aren’t the only one, at 27 I get blemish prone quite enough and so this wash could benefit me too.
The packaging is nice, bit different from normal and it’s a really good sized bottle (it’s Full size! Holding 177ml) This ‘Clear Start – Breakout Clearing Foam wash’ retails at £13 – So the cost of the box is totally unimportant, now, we’ve more than doubled it!
When the card said there was something for the nails I was hoping for a nail polish. I’ve got a few nail wraps but never used them, though do intend to. These are from the Little Mix collection and have a very young, ‘funky’ feel to them. They’re not really to my taste but I think they look quite nice; can’t decide if I’ll try them or pass them along. These cost £6 and there’s quite a lot in the set so they seem like a good deal.
Lastly we have a body spray from ‘So…? Fragrance’ in the scent ‘Sinful’ – Bit disappointed to see a second fragrance product when there was already a perfume sample in this box but at least there’s a nice amount of product in one of these travel sized cans. This is supposed to have top notes of mint and pineapple which I can’t really smell and the heart notes are strawberry and violet; again not something I can detect. What I can smell are the base notes of vanilla, praline and musk – Thanfully they’re smells I like. I think this is quite a young scent (hardly a criticism when this box is aimed at younger people anyway) but I think I’ll use it as it still fits inside the scent ranges that I like. This is a 50ml can and the 75ml can only costs £1.69 so nice and easy to re-purchase if you enjoy it.
Over all this is a decent box – The Jelly Pong Pong and the Dermalogica make the box and the other items are nice extras. I think the rich, red bag is my favourite, thus far, so I may have to find something nice to do with it! Nice job, Glossybox, another successful ‘Miss Glossybox’ for this two month period.
