October 2013 Favourites - Beauty and Random

Another month down and we're getting scarily close to the end of the year. As I write this I'm actually almost done with my Christmas shopping - Very unlike me but rather nice to know I should end up with a much less stressful Christmas time.

This month has been rife with fibro issues, exhaustion, pain etc. I have started on a new medication, though, which (fingers crossed) seems to be helping a little. As such it's been lots of simplicity for me, but with a few extras to keep things interesting.

As you can see, the make-up itself only makes up a small part of this months favourites, but there's also some skincare and some tools in there, too, plus some lovely extras.

I've been loving the Sleek 'Vintage Romance' palette this month - I Love the shades, I love the range of looks I can make with it and I just love everything about it. I am hoping to upload a post showing you a simple look that I do with this palette but I don't know if I'm happy with the photos I've got yet, so watch this space!

When it comes to lips this months it's been all about the balmy feeling products. When we're run down we get dry lips - I've been run down a lot. The three products I've included have been my absolute favourites but, to be honest, I've been reaching for anything balmy. The three favourites are Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Honey', the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in 'Plum Jam' and the Koress lip butter in 'Plum'. All of these are ones I loved last year and had plenty of love back then, very pleased to give them some love this year too.

In terms of nail polishes I've been drawn to lots of glitters. The two Barry M polishes that are in the photo above are absolute favourites at the moment - These are from the 'Royal Textured Glitter' collection. 'Purple Countess' is the deep purple/red on the left which has golden flecks in it too; a gorgeous autumnal shade. The shade on the right is 'Nude Duchess' which is just so pretty, almost a pinky nude which works all year around.

I've been really enjoying a few new brushes recently - I got the Real Techniques Duo Fibre set a couple of months ago (real bargain imported from the US) and I've been really loving the Face brush for powder and the Shadow brush for blending and for detail. I do love the Contour brush, too, for highlight but I haven't been using a highlight as much this month.

The brush that has made my eye looks infinitely better is the Coastal Scents 205 blending brush - I've actually ordered a second one of these as I really love using it.

I mentioned in a previous haul that I'd been trying to get hold of the Manuka Doctor Api Clear Blemish Cream for some months before I finally got hold of it. I'm very glad that I have it now as it's been really useful this month. I'm going to be using this a little longer before I write a more full review but so far so good.

I'm in love with the 'Killer Queen' fragrance by Katy Perry - I've had three samples of it from various places and after only the first one I wanted a full size. This massive bottle was courtesy of a money off voucher from the Very website - Just look at that stunning bottle, regal without a doubt.

The Mary Berry book is to represent The Great British Bake Off - I've always caught bits and pieces of it but this year I watched every episode and am gutted that it's over already. I love baking so this is exactly the right sort of show for me.

I've been totally and utterly obsessed with Kinder Bueno bars for a while now - Our local garage hasn't had stock for a while, though, so I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

These fingerless gloves are from the Boots Christmas range and I love them So much - They keep my hands warm despite leaving a lot of them uncovered and I just love the way they look. To keep with the knitted theme I'm absolutely loving jumpers at the moment, too - Keep your eyes peeled for a primark haul to show you why I'm loving jumpers right now.

Don't forget to follow me via one (or more if you want!) of the ways to the right of my page -Google friend connect, bloglovin, twitter and facebook are best for regular updates. Following means you can see more posts like this one plus reviews, swatches and further mentions of things mentioned in this post plus much much more!

  1. I absolutely LOVE Kinder Bueno! I really wanted to try the real technique duo fiber brushes, but I recently got the core collection and I can't bring myself to spend more. :( Would love to see a look with the Sleek Palette, but too bad it's not in Superdrug anymore.

    Great post as always!

    1. Hopefully it'll come back in to stock!

I will get the look posted, I'm still not sure I'm happy with the photos I took but with the weather being so bad it's hard to do it again - We'll see what happens

Thanks, I really appreciate all of your comments xx

  2. Love your product choices (andKinder Buenos are ace)! The Barry M nail colour looks really pretty & sparkly - such a shame that I'm absolutely useless where nail polish application is concerned!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Practice makes perfect! I used to get my nails good all the time but recently they're consistently bad! Not going to give up, though, love doing my nails :)
