Birchbox UK – Unboxing / Review – December 2013

I was Very excited to see the delivery man walk down my drive way with a brightly coloured box – It could only mean one thing, time for my Birchbox subscription!
I’m loving the asymmetric Christmas tree design for this special, Winter Wonderland box! I’m going to be honest here and say that I just, out right, love everything about this box – This is what I subscribed to Birchbox for.

If you read the post, and agree with me, then you can Subscribe to Birchbox just there! It’d be a lovely Christmas gift to yourself, or to someone else. And there’s also a special offer on at the moment to get a free Christmas box with a 6 or 12 month subscription (I quite wish I was in a position to buy a sub just to get the free box) – And if you can’t stretch to a 6 or 12 month sub then if you’re in the first 1000 new subscribers you can get a free, really cute, bracelet.

Look, even the cards are all festive!
And here’s what we’ve got – An exciting mixture of products.
But, before we get on to the products I was Very excited to see a $20 gift code for a jewellery store called Baublebar who’ve just launched to the uk – Birchbox are currently in discussion with Baublebar now that it’s been noted that the p+p to the uk is $20 so it, somewhat, negates the point of the voucher – I was Very excited about this but now just having to wait and see what Birchbox come back to us with. I’ll be sure to update this, again, once I know better information.

First up we have ‘Non-Aerosol Hair Spray’ from Number 4. I don’t use hair spray a lot, but I do from time to time and I do like the idea of a non-aerosol one as aerosols aren’t known for being great. The card also explains that this is ‘botanical rich’ which sounds rather nice and natural! This is a good sized 43ml bottle and would fit nicely into a bag for the party season. The full size is 200ml and costs £18.50 so we’re looking at approximately £4.50 worth of product here.

Next up is this Nail Rock set – Some people got glitter, some got velvet – I’m quite glad I got glitter. This is a great little diy glitter nail set with really big, chunky glitter. I think the shade is really nice and festive too – I can’t wait to try this out.

The directions say you apply two coats of base coat, dip your nails in the post, brush of the excess and voila! I like this a lot! It’s a full sized set and it’s worth £6.99.

Next we have this teeny tiny little pot of Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow by Alima Pure. The shade I have is called Chai and it’s a gorgeous neutral with some gold and some pinky/rose tones. It’s not an in your face shade but I still have the swatch on my hand and can’t stop admiring it!

I can tell you, for sure, that a little goes a long way so I think that, despite it only being a tiny sample is should last a good while. A full size of this costs £12.50 (I’d like to say how much the sample is worth but don’t know the size, I’d say it’s maybe £2 but that’s a guess)

I’ve never tried a Twist Band before so it’s nice to see one in here. As you’ll see in a future post I don’t have much hair to tie back at the moment but as and when I do I’ll enjoy using this as I’ve enjoyed other ties of this type. These cost £10 for 6 so this single tie is worth around £1.70.

I quite love the packaging and branding of this, very cute, a bit sexy and lots of fun. This is a ‘Party Girl -Booster Serum’ by Sin-Care. This is supposed to be a great, illuminating serum, so if we get using it now we should all be bright and dewy for our Christmas time festivities.

It comes in a nice bottle and is a 5ml sample which I think is a decent size for a serum considering you use so much. The full size is 50ml and costs £46.50 so this sample is worth £4.60.

Annnd lastly we have this Lamilou absolutely natural ‘Smoothing Exfoliating Gel – Honey’. I’ve never used a gel exfoliator before so I’m really excited to try this. You can see how short the ingredient list is, which is nice, I like some natural skin care.

This is what it looks like and, unsurprisingly, it smells like honey – It smells Divine!

This is a 30ml sample so I look forward to getting lots of uses out of it. The full size is 200ml and costs £24 – If I like this I may see some of my Birchbox reward points going on it. This sample is worth around £3.60.

And I had to share the cards with you because I think they’re just so cute this month.

So, I think you can see why I love this months box – Hair, nails, make-up And skincare. Full sized items or decent samples (ok one tiny but will go a long way) PLUS $20 towards jewellery! The exchange rate tells me that $20 is around £12.22 so, adding on the rest of the items from the box it’s worth around £35.61 (that was guessing the eye shadow at £2.

Obviously if the gift card only works out at free p+p then that’s not quite so much of a good deal so it reduces the box value to £23.39 – It’s not quite so impressive but if you love all of the items, like I do, then it’s still a really good box. Again, I’ll update re. the gift code once I know more info.

Honestly? Impressed! and if you are too, don’t forget, if you want to subscribe then you can just click the link above!!

This box is absolutely amazing. The shimmer eye shadow is my sort of shade. I love shades like this. I really want to buy one shade that's similar but on it's own rather then in a palette and doesn't cost a fortune.

The only product that really appeals to me from that set is the eye shadow. I love the packaging but not really impressed with the products. I've recently subscribed to Glossybox as I just thought it was a better fit for me. Do you subscribe to any other beauty boxes? Which is your favourite if you do? Thanks for posting this xx

See I honestly like everything in this box – The idea of smearing honey on my face is just too good!

I love beauty boxes, in general, but Love me beauty are good value and you know what you're getting in advance, the infrequent boxes from Latest in beauty are great too. And I've just started getting the You discovery box which is also really interesting.

Out of the typical glossybox or birchbox it's probably birchbox for me, more boxes that I've loved xx
