Glossybox UK – Review / Unboxing – February 2014

Gotta love the surprise of going to put a nappy outside and finding a Glossybox in the porch! I always like it when I find it by surprise, I have no idea why!

I definitely like this high gloss, deeper lid version of the Glossbox boxes – Though, if you hadn’t noticed, this month’s box isn’t the standard pink shade… Valentines theme anyone?!
And this months theme is ‘Be Mine’ – I really don’t mind about themes as long as the items stay good as well as themed. Very apt theme for this month anyhow!
And here’s what my ‘Be Mine’ themed box had to offer – Impressed? I am!
Full sized Maybelline again? Oh yes please! I know that these boxes are meant to be high end but I love my high st and I love the idea of being able to get a full sized high st item in amongst the higher end things. And what an item I got, too! The ‘Big Eyes’ mascara is quite a recent release and I’ve wanted to try it as I love the concept – Up until now the concept of a little mascara wand for the lower lashes seemed exclusive to the higher end market so I’m glad that it’s reached the high st now. I have So so many mascaras on the go, and so many waiting to be used… this should, in theory, go in to the ‘to be used’ section but I get the feeling it’ll end up in the current part just because I Really want to try it! This retails for £8.99
Next up we have Another full sized cosmetics item in the form of the NV ‘Chunky Eye Crayon’ – I love me an eye crayon but I’m really not sure what I’ll be able to do with this shade.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some pinks that work beautifully on the eye but I think this lilac toned pink might be too much for me (and for many others) – The shade is called ‘Sugarplum’
It’s a shame because the formula feels Really really nice, it’s just not a wearable shade! The box says that this product can be used on the eyes, lips and body, which is interesting. I think the formula would be too dry for the lips but maybe it’d be possible to try it as a blush? I guess I’ll have to have a good play around with it, I do not want to have a full sized product from a box that I can’t use! This is worth £5.
This next item just screams ‘valentines themed’ but thankfully I quite like it too! Sometimes Cherry Blossom scents are a bit ‘too’ flowery but the scent of this one is really pleasant – The Nougat London ‘Sparkling Body Shimmer’ is quite a liquid formula and I think that this 100ml bottle is going to last a long time – A full sized bottle is 250ml and is worth £14 so this sample is worth £5.60.
Definitely don’t mind getting sachets when they’re amongst so many full sized/good sized products! These sachets are from Giovanni Eco Chic Cosmetics and it’s the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask from the ‘Ultra Moist’ range. These will be nice to try out, I like  having three things from the same range to try.
Sounds like the beauty box fairies have been listening to me! I pleaded for some milk chocolate after all the dark we’ve been getting and wow did it happen! Not just a little tiny sample of chocolate but a Whole bar of Lindt milk chocolate, yes please! These bars cost 79p and I am going to enjoy it very very much!
And, as if all of the products so far weren’t enough, here we have a full sized Ciate nail polish! I mean goodness me, that’s a whole lot of amazing cosmetics this month! I Love Ciate polishes so I was Really pleased to see this – It’s a stunning, rich raspberry pink colour. I actually got a Nails Inc polish, recently, that looks similar to this so I hope they’re different enough to allow having both of them in my collection. This really does look beautiful and Ciate polishes apply so nicely! This shade is called ‘Cocktail Dress’ and a full sized Ciate is worth £9.

Well, what do you think I think of this box? With a value of around £30 it’s an impressive collection of items and the brands inside are just wonderful. I’m a little disappointed about the eye pencil but I will play with it to see what I can do, I’m not crazy excited about the shimmer lotion but it does look nice and I will use it and all of the other items I’m Really happy with (including the sachets, they seem really nice) – A Very very good box and impressively close to the theme!

Thanks Glossbox – Good month!

I'm quite impressed by the variation with the boxes this month, I received the body shimmer, the chocolate and the Ciate nail varnish but in a different shade, everything else is completely different. The one disappointment was the Toni and Guy product I received, it's a stick it up gum and not very apt for my long hair, I can at least give it to James though.

Hi Laura, thanks for your review of Feb's Glossybox. I'm like you – light colours just don't do well on eyes! But hopefully you can check out our website for more colours that would work for you! I would personally recommend our lipsticks (SUPER moisturising!) and our highly-pigmented eyeshadows (good pay-off). But also, don't be giving your NV eye crayon away just yet! You can use it on the lips too – our eye and lip crayons are completely versatile.

You can find an image on my personal twitter @magstheblogger where I used the eye crayon on my lips to create a rainbow ombre look! 😉

    Mags xx
