Love Me Beauty – Unboxing / Review – February 2014

It’s the time of the month where the beauty boxes are arriving and it’s the turn of ‘Love Me Beauty’ today!
I really, really like the design of the Valentines themed card that comes with this month’s box; the vintage/scrapbook feel is really nice. This month’s box came with four items, which you could pick based upon menus, plus one ‘mystery’ item which was a favourite from previous boxes.

First up is something I was really looking forward to trying – The Percy & Reed ‘No-fuss Flawlessness – Dry Conditioner’. I’ve tried some Percy & Reed products before and was really looking forward to trying some more. I’ve not tried it, yet, but I really want to; the idea of it is really good, a spray that conditions and adds shine whilst reducing the damage caused by brushing. This is a full sized 150ml can which is worth £12.

This was one of the optional items in the box and I would rather have not had it in mine But I really wanted a specific fragrance of balm and a certain item from La Claree so this was an item I had to get in order to get the other options I wanted. I’ve already got a couple of packs of the ‘Beautify Me – Vitamin Complex’ by Inner Me  and I’ve not got around to trying it, I do like the idea behind it but there’s only so many packs of beauty vitamins a girl needs! These are worth an impressive £15, though, so value wise is a good addition to the box.

This was the item that ruined the box, for me. It might sound silly, I’m a Really big fan of Models Own, but if you’ve read my posts in the past you’ll know that I already have this polish, in this exact shade, as I got it in my November Box. I really like the idea of a mystery product, an idea of mystery is the only thing missing from these boxes, but for someone to get an exact duplicate of something they got only a few months ago is just silly, especially when it’s a full sized nail polish – Hardly something that any of us use up quickly. I’ll put this in a giveaway or use it in a swap or something but that’s not the point – I spoke to the customer services team, simply to let them know my disappointment, but they said that a ‘free mystery product’ couldn’t be replaced. I didn’t ask for a replacement but I do think that it’s a big shame that that’s their policy. I also think it’s a bit cheeky because they class this as a free item rather than the 5th item in the box (They’ve Always had 5 items in the box but this month it’s 4 items plus a free one?) – Anyway, rant over, big disappointment and kinda puts me off the box if it means I’m likely to keep ending up with duplicate products.

I love the way this little diddy pot of cream looks, the La Claree ‘Smooth Day Face Care’ is one of the items that brought me to chose the menu that I did. I love skin care and am always looking for items that are going to improve my skin – Having a good routine has improved my skin, no end, already but there’s no harm in improving it further! This is a 7ml sample so should get a good few uses out of it, a full size is 50ml and costs £28.

This little item proves that it’s not, always, about the value – It’s the cheapest item in the box but it’s my favourite. This is Bakewell Soap Company’s ‘Multi-Purpose Pocket balm’ in ‘May Chang’ which has an amazing citrus scent. This little tin has a lot of really interesting claims as they say that it’s made with ‘oils rich in Omega 3 and 6’ which are ‘essential for healthy skin and packed with vitamins and anti-inflammatories’ and on top of that the ‘astringent citrus oils that help repair and tone dry and damaged skin’. I love multi-purpose products like this and this one is a real favourite already.

I’ve already used this on my hands and my lips, and Ethan’s enjoyed it on his lips too! It smells fabulous and it’s going to be a regular in my routine now – And, like I said, price isn’t everything – This little gem costs only £3.95
I’m quite torn following this box. I love the Percy & Reed, and I love the balm plus the day cream is ok but the vitamins are ‘meh’ and the nail polish is an out and out disappointment. I’m thinking about cancelling because I didn’t really like the way that the team dealt with my emails and I don’t like that I got a duplicate – Obviously I still got plenty of items which, by far, outweigh the cost of the box, but it feels cheeky and the way they replied to my email felt very dismissive.

That is a real shame about the nail polish and the customer services, otherwise Love Me Beauty are usually top notch! I hope you don't cancel your subscription because I like seeing your unboxing posts 🙂

I have a palma violet lip balm from The Bakewell soap company and it is wonderful! My partner uses some of their balms on his skin to calm his eczema and loves them, they work wonders.

That's annoying about the duplicate, I think you always think its a possibility that you get something you already own that can't be helped but you wouldn't expect to get a duplicate in a beauty box.

i had the same problem with the 'free' item. i got headline colours in quicksand which i got in my december box. spoke to customer services and they said the same thing to me as they did you. i bit disappointing as most other boxes ive seen have lip gloss or nip&fab cream
