'Sealed With a Kiss' by Rachael Lucas* - Book Review

Book club time is one of my favourite times of the month, getting a new, surprise book to read is just such an exciting thing for a book crazy nut like me! And when it's the Bahlsen Book club book and biscuits come out of the package too... well the joy is almost unrivalled!

When this book arrived with me a couple of weeks ago it was clear from the front cover it's a romance, with a cute cover like that could it be anything else?! I was looking forward to finding out what the book was for this month as there'd already been hints that the author was a fellow blogger and, I have to admit, that did make even more excited than normal!

'Sealed with a Kiss' is Rachael Lucas' first book and her story is just such a lovely one! She, originally, self published but, after the book had been downloaded over 130,000 times, she was signed to Pan MacMillan - As a would be future author this sort of story fills me with masses and masses of hope. Of course I need to get the novel written, or even started, first but there's hope for me yet!

Anyway, on to the perfect summer read that is this book. Ok well you might ask 'How is it the perfect summer read, I don't like romance!' - Well here's the secret... neither do I! There's a Few romance novels I've enjoyed but they Really are few and far between. So for me to say that this is a perfect summer read really means something.

If you've read any of my book reviews before then you'll know I try to give away as little as possible when it comes to plots, and this won't be any different. I will say, though, that the plot isn't ground breaking, it's not a thrill a minute roller-coaster ride... It's a simple plot, one that's not dissimilar from other books of this sort but it works and it works because it's well written with characters which are developed enough that you can love them and want the absolute best (or worst) outcome for them. Sometimes that's all it takes for a book to be fantastic!

If you're looking for something easy and gentle to read on a warm summers afternoon - Something that'll lift you up and make you smile then this really could be the book for you. When you add to this the fact that Rachael Lucas is an inspirational lady who many of us could learn from... well why are you still here? Why aren't you buying the book already!? Oh, yeah, well you can get the kindle version for £1.99 from Amazon here or the paperback version for £5.24 from Amazon here. You know what to do!

  1. Awww thank you so much for that lovely review! I know this is going to sound a bit bonkers but I'm not a massive romance reader either... but I wanted to write the sort of book that you could read in the bath with a big glass of wine, the kind I'd like to read. R xx

    1. Thanks for the comment :) I'm so glad that you like the review

It's quite funny, actually, after I posted the review I was thinking maybe I should try to focus on writing something to relax with rather than an epic fantasy that'll take a million years to write and need years to read haha! xx
