Glossybox UK – 3rd Birthday Box – August 2014 Unboxing / Review

I’ve been looking forward to the 3rd Birthday Glossybox, for a while now, the birthday boxes tend to be rather nice. I came back home, the day after my wedding, and was rather pleased to see it here, a Glossybox is fun to open on any day but a day when I’m already feeling wonderful is an even bigger joy.

The celebration of the 3rd birthday started the moment I opened the box, there was even a special sticker to hold the rather lovely tissue paper closed over the exciting contents.

The information card was even more beautiful than normal, this month, I absolutely love the design of it, it is rather fitting to the theme and just lovely in general.

And here’s the rather impressive contents of the box – I was very excited once I rolled the tissue paper away, some very nice looking products inside. Skincare, hand care, nails, cosmetics, hair and perfume… the box covers almost all bases.
The first item I’ve got to show you was a real ‘wow’ for me. When I saw the bottle I assumed it was a body care item due to it being such a big, 200ml, bottle. As it turns out, though, it’s a cleansing milk for the face which makes it a very impressive item to get in a beauty box, especially considering it’s worth £20. I’d never heard of Comfort Zone before but having had a look around it seems they have a massive range which is rather interesting looking. This cleansing milk has a really nice, gentle scent to it and I am really looking forward to trying it out, especially as I can now use new skincare with the wedding over.

The next item is housed in this rather sleek looking square tub which is emblazoned with the Glossybox logo; I didn’t used to get GB back when they did their own makeup range so I was rather excited to see this.

Inside the tub is this pale, neutral looking highlighting cream which fills the well of the tub right to the top (Can you tell I’m used to them being half empty?).

This was really tough to photograph but it’s absolutely beautiful – It’s very subtle but has the most gorgeous golden sheen to it and I think I’m going to love wearing it, it’s exactly the sort of thing I enjoy using.

A mini nail polish is the next item I took out of the box and I had a little ‘ooh’ – The shade is just beautiful and I’ve never tried an Yves Rocher nail polish before so I was rather pleased. The shade is, simply, called ‘Rose’ and it’s exactly the sort of shade that I love at the moment – I can’t wait to try this.

Figs & Rouge is a brand I’ve enjoyed before so I was pleased to see one of their products in the box. I assumed it was another lip balm (which I’ve had before) but I was even more pleased to see it was a hand cream. I wasn’t sure when I saw that it was ‘Rose Berry’ as I don’t enjoy rose scents anymore but, thankfully, they’ve created a rather beautiful scent (as they often seem to do when they make one that’s a mix of two difference fragrances) – The ‘Rose Berry’ scent is absolutely delightful and the hand cream feels amazing on the skin.
A cult favourite brand, next, with the Philip Kingsley ‘Elasticizer’ – I’ve had a sample tube of this in a previous box but never used it which is daft as anything as I know it’s supposed to be amazing. I like the idea of a pre-shampoo treatment but I so often forget to use them, I definitely need to make sure I start trying this out and with it being a 40ml tube I expect I’ll get to try it a good few times (especially on my really short hair).
Lastly we have a Lalique perfume sample in the scent ‘L’Amore’ – It’s a rather pleasant fragrance and has a slightly different applicator from normal so should make it possible to get all of the perfume out, unlike spray bottles. I neither love nor loathe perfume samples so I don’t mind this one but I know some won’t be happy about it, that said, it’s amongst a good number of very good items which is rather better than when it’s a main item.
In all honesty I loved this box, there’s a number of items that I’ll get a Lot of use out of and those that are less so are still quite alright. I think this is a great birthday box and I am very happy to have been able to celebrate with Glossybox.

Do you get any subscription boxes? What do you think of this box?

That cleansing lotion looks lovely! I got an anti-ageing serum instead which was disappointing.

You know how obsessed I am about my hair and I can vouch for elasticiser as being unbelievable. However, I don't know if you'll get much benefit having such short hair because it's supposed to be used from the ears down.
    Xxx

Ooh I didn't know that, thank you! I shall save it until my hair is at the long, unruly stage that goes past my ears then hehe – It might be a while before I can afford to get it cut again xxx
