I've been using Travelodge hotels since I was in my late teens - A good friend and I used to travel around the country, from time to time, to follow a band that we loved and who we used to hang out with after their gigs. It was a fantastic time for so many reasons and Travelodge became a bit of a no brainer from then on in. We were students so we didn't have a lot of money and a lot of the time we weren't booking with a lot of advance planning; we needed somewhere affordable and easy to book at short notice.
When we first started our adventures we used to check out a variety of places to stay but it soon became apparent that Travelodge was always the best option - It was cheap, it was easy, we could book with plenty of advance timing or last minute and there's hotels absolutely everywhere. When you're staying in a big town, or city, it's not like you only have one place you can stay, you can spend a bit of time working out which are the closest to where you want to be and then see which of those is the cheapest - That was always how we worked it out anyway (though we were often happy to be a bit further away to save some more money. Sometimes the places we stayed in weren't the most up-to-date but they were never bad and we were never unhappy with our stay.
These less up-to-date rooms are less and less likely to happen now that Travelodge are refurbishing 500 hotels across the UK! Earlier this year I had two events to attend in London, the premier of Divergent on one day and then the Makeup Revolution launch the next day; obviously we needed somewhere to stay. I didn't even consider anywhere else, Travelodge was the obvious choice and in somewhere like London there are So many to pick from.
I went for the London Central Warterloo hotel because it was not too far from where we needed to be but it was also a lot cheaper than those that were a bit closer. We were pleasantly surprised by our room, which I now know were refurbished a few years ago, it was a lot like the one above but without the sofa and with more space next to the bed as the desk was next to it (I didn't get pics even though we planned to).
The room was big, it was really clean, it was airy, and nicely fitted out. The bathroom was a nice size and, again, really clean. The thing that I loved the most was the huge, super comfortable mattress - I kid you not it was the most comfy mattress that I've ever slept on! We have a new mattress at home and we were sensible, going for a firm one, but I just Wish that we had something as comfy and squishy as the one we had in that Travelodge room.
So imagine that 500 hotels across the UK are going to be even better than the one that I stayed in recently... well you can guess where I'll be going the next time I need to stay away from home. They're basic, they're simple but they do the job and they do it really well.
I've been really lucky to be able to offer you the opportunity to stay in a Travelodge of your choice, within the UK, for one night.
