Birchbox UK – November 2014 – Unboxing / Review

It’s getting harder and harder to avoid spoilers now that it seems they’re everywhere, so, sadly, this month I knew what a couple of items would be but, thankfully, they were very good items so I coped with knowing haha. I’m, actually, amazingly happy with this box from Birchbox, this month – I loved last month’s and this month seems to be fantastic, too. I’d got to a point where I was umming and ahhing about Birchbox for a little while but they’ve Definitely pulled that back now!

If you like the look of the box as much as I do then you can use my code to subscribe: – The code will get you £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop and it’ll give me the same, too. A win win situation!

The theme, this month, is ‘Cosy At Home’ which is perfect for this time of year – I love the image they’ve used on the card, too – I don’t knit but I crochet and it definitely is a great cool weather hobby as you can make something warm and cosy whilst doing something relaxing and homely.

My box arrived, this afternoon, just after I lit up my Winter Berry candle which is just perfect for this time of the year and, I think, perfect for a ‘Cosy At Home’ theme.

I’m starting with a biggun’ because I just couldn’t help but grab this out of the box first. Dr Jart+ is just one of those brands I’ve wanted and wanted to try for so long but they’re not really very fitting to my budget. So… getting a Full Size product in this box was a real Wow moment for me! I got the ‘V7 Cleansing Foam’ which is sulphate free and is full of vitamins and anti-oxidants; this whole range is made to brighten and hydrate the skin (which is something mine really needs). In all honesty I’d rather have tried one of the other items available but it’s still Dr Jart so I’m still over the moon. This is worth £15 so it’s covered the cost of the box, instantly, everyone gets a full sized Dr Jart product this month.
The next item I’ve got is the Lifestyle extra and it’s a sachet of a product called ‘Drinkwel’. You’re supposed to use these if you like to enjoy a drink as part of a healthy lifestyle – You take 3 with food and water before drinking and then you take 3 more before bed. It’s a very interesting concept but isn’t something that’ll be much good to me as I drink very rarely. My younger sister enjoys a drink when she has a night out, though, so I may pass them along to her (In a nice way, not a cheeky way haha)
A miniature makeup item next – This bronzer is from Lord & Berry and it’s in the shade ‘Sienna’ – It’s said to be a very fine powder and it’s a matte formula, as you can see above it’s quite a pale shade so it’s absolutely perfect for me. It’s only tiny but you’ll still get loads of use out of it; I’m going to pop it in my tin of de-potted items and am really looking forward to trying it, it’s right up my street.
Yay yay a full OPI! Yup, that’s a second high value item this month and I’m mightily impressed! I love this shade, it’s a really true purple and it’s called ‘A Grape Affair’, from the Coca-Cola range. I’m very very happy with this and may try it out along side a product that I’ve got to trial to share with you all this Christmas, yay! Full sized OPI polishes are worth £11.95 which makes the value of this box very impressive even with only the two full sized items.
Ooh yay a natural lip balm comes next and I Love lip balms! This is the ‘Natural Lanolin Lip Balm’ from LipGlam  – The card in the box doesn’t list this as full size but considering that this tube is 12ml and the LipGlam websites lists the full size as 12ml then I have to assume that this Is full size. This is worth £9.99 so that’s rather impressive. The balm is super super thick and takes a while to get out of the tube but it feels amazing and Really nourishing on the lips – I love this sort of balm for before bed or on a non-lipstick day when you’re just saying home and wanting to use something that’s really good for your lips, without caring about the appearance.

Lastly I got a new Beauty Protect item, we’ve had lots from this brand in other boxes and I really like them – Their products smell amazing and are lovely to use. This month we got their ‘Protect & Treat Hair Mask’ and it’s come in these two little tubs. The instructions for this say to use it on the ends of the hair after shampooing so, with my super short hair, I expect this will last me for four uses but for someone with really long hair there may only be one or two uses. Either way, it’s a really nice product to get.

I’m really happy with this month’s box – I feel like the items are very in keeping with the cosy, stay at home, pampering whilst it’s cold outside sort of theme; nourishing skincare, something to keep your hair healthy, a bronzer to give you a healthy glow, nourishing lip balm, a product for if you want to indulge in the evening and then nail polish for you to stay home and pamper… pretty much perfect. Some people got chocolate in their boxes… yeah that’d have been an improvement for me haha.

If you want to get a full size Dr Jart, a full size OPI and some other fantastic samples then you can use my code and get both of us £5 to spend in the Birch Box store –

It's always interesting to see other boxes, I was so impressed with my OPI nail varnish among everything else. I do feel that the Birchbox is much more personal whereas some boxes you would just get the exact same as everyone else. I really can't wait until next months box!
