If you saw my post about the opening of my local Homesense store you’ll already know that I love this beautiful, quirky store so when I pictured what it’d be like at Christmas I just couldn’t go and check it out. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to due to various issues with getting there so my, very lovely, cousin took some lovely photos of her local when she visited – She managed to capture how gorgeous the store is, and how much of an effort they made to turn it in to a real Christmas wonderland so I wanted to share some of those pictures with you. In the end, though, my Mum and I were able to go and my Mum, very much, wanted to get some new decorations to revive her collection – I went to look for some gifts and, also, get some decorations to keep aside for when we move out. (Which was all made easier to consider due to the gift card I was kindly sent)
Some stores give up a shelf, or even an aisle, or two for Christmas decorations but not so with Homesense
. It seems that my cousin’s local, just as ours, has transformed loads of their store to house a real plethora of Christmas beauty. Not to mention incredibly cute bears and a festive steam train!
There’s aisle after aisle of decorations; incredibly beautiful decorations. There’s traditional style ones, classic golds and whites, silvers and reds, and there’s also quirky, more colourful ones that would stand out on anyone’s tree.
Once we have our own place, and we have our own tree, I expect I’ll buy a number of simpler basics from a more generic store and then it’ll be to Homesense, and there I’ll be able to pick out some really stunning statement ornaments that will be much more to my character, just a few that’ll really bring the tree to life.
There was a set of baubles that I fell totally in love with but, with our storage issues being rather difficult I didn’t feel like we could comfortably store them somewhere safely when we move so, with a very heavy heart, I didn’t get them. I hope there’ll be something I love just as much next year.
Not only were there baubles aplenty but there was so many of the other extras that you might want – Re-usable, beautiful advents, stockings sacks and all number of amazing room decorations that’ll make your whole space perfectly festive.
My Mum made all of her own wreaths and garlands, many years ago, but I’m nowhere near as talented with things like that – Something like the one with the white flowers may have to be mine on our first Christmas!
And here’s what we picked up, between us. Can you tell which are mine and which are my Mum’s? Yes, all the baubles are hers, the beautiful whites and golds are just perfect to bring her tree back to life after a lot of her baubles have become damaged over the years. I Love the slightly coppery tone to the golden ones in the centre, there’s such a warmth to them – We’ve not got them, or the clear ones with the gold design, one the tree yet as they didn’t come with thread to hang them with so my Mum needs to get some.
The polka dot stars are ours… I just fell in love with them. I want some beautiful, intricate pieces, but I also want some shabby chic style items too and these stars are Perfect for that! It was only £6.99 for them, so I assumed that it was just 7 stars… turns out I was wrong and it’s a full on garland! Isn’t that going to be beautiful around a tree, I can’t wait!
And don’t forget gifts. I’ve shown you inside a Homesense before so you know how many beautiful items of homeware they have, but it doesn’t stop there. They have craft items, note books, candles, toys, beauty and more; endless amounts of gift ideas. My Mum picked up two stacks of crafting paper as they’re a set she loves but can’t get any more and she got both of them for less than she paid for just One a couple of years ago. If you know someone who loves crafting you could easily pick them up a bargain there.
She also got herself some bamboo socks, she can’t wear normal socks anymore so when she found these (in cute designs too) she was really pleased – They’d make a lovely gift, too, my Nan often buys them for my Mum at Christmas.
Their food section had grown (I think) for Christmas and it was really easy to pick up some bargains for some of the people that we had left to buy for – There’s biscuits, chocolate, sweets, savoury and more. If you have a foodie in the family then Homesense is the place to go for something different that’s also a bargain.
And if you don’t know what to get someone there’s always the old favourite, the gift card. Homesense is a great place to get someone a gift card; the amount of different things you an get from that place, it’s an absolute treasure trove. I am still sure that when we move out we’ll be going there for kitchen things and lots of other homey things too – But it doesn’t need to be someone moving out, there’s so many other things that a person could get, it’s just a joy to shop there, at Christmas time and also the rest of the year.

I was given a gift card to help me pick up some things to show you for this piece – I wanted to write about Homesense at christmas, anyway, though as I knew it would be fantastic
