Hotel Chocolat is a place of heaven for me; ever since my Mum introduced me to their stores many years ago I have been a little bit in love with the ability to step off the high street and in to a world where the walls are lined with chocolates so beautiful that you don’t know where to look. Their flavours are phenomenal, the quality of their chocolate fantastic and just the atmosphere of their stores; walking in to a completely different reality where it’s calm and soothing and filled with chocolate – Surely that’s the dream right there?
If being asked to write about these amazing products wasn’t enough, I was also asked to pick a blogger friend to be sent the same box of chocolates that I was – If you want to know who my Hotel Chocolat blogger valentine was then check here: Shhhh it’s a secret!
If I think of giving or receiving a chocolate gift then Hotel Chocolat is likely to pop up in no time at all. Their prices aren’t low but then you are paying for what you get and that’s something which I really value because these days it often feels like we’re paying for over-priced nonsense but with this store I feel like you’re paying for good quality ingredients, expertise and originality which, in this mass produced world, surely has to be valued?
Anyway, I’m getting a little off the track here… Valentines day is only a couple of weeks away and if you’re considering gifts for the one you love (or writing up a subtle wishlist as a hint to your other half) then I’m going to suggest that Hotel Chocolat are very much worth thinking about.
In this side of the box we have: ‘Balsamic Caramel’, ‘Caramel Dizzy Praline’, ‘Passion Fruit Truffle’, ‘Gin Truffle’ and ‘Champagne Truffle’.
The first three I tried were the Salted Almond Praline, the Balsamic Caramel and the Lemon Berry Tart.
The Caramel dizzy praline has a caramel chocolate shell, which I didn’t think would make much difference, but was actually delicious; you could really taste the difference with the caramel chocolate, it works so so well. There’s only a few from the selection with alcohol in but, be warned, if they have alcohol in it’s not done lightly. WOW did I get blown off my feet by the strong flavour of the ‘Gin Truffle’ – At first it was overpowering but I, actually, really surprised myself by enjoying it.
Honestly, the range of flavours was what won this box for me – Ok so the chocolates look exquisite, but the fact that they taste as such, too, is the real winner for me. I think a loved one would be blown away by this box at Valentines. Similarly, if you’re trying to hint to your loved one as to what you want then this may be worth pointing them towards, or if you’re single and wanting to treat yourself then look no further; this is the ultimate treat.
The whole Valentines range is available here: http://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/shop/valentines-day-gifts – Hotel Chocolat is definitely a place to consider.
I was sent these chocolates for my consideration for review purposes, all opinions are honest and are my own
