An 'Unauthorized' Absence

So I've not been around much.

It wasn't a planned thing but it's just sort of 'happened'. After having blogged, almost daily, often more than once a day, I've only been posting sporadically this past couple of months. In all honesty it's hard to explain why this has happened, without going in to a lot of other things but, essentially, my health has been rubbish, as has my mental health.

I'm planning on doing a post about my mental health, soon, and I have a number of other posts that are waiting in the wings. So it's not that I'm gone, it wasn't a planned absence, it was just a random time away. I'll be back as soon as I can. I'm still here. Just... well didn't want it to go unsaid.

The Cohorted Beauty Box - February 2015 - (Whisper... I got one of the special boxes!!)

It'd be hard for you to have missed the excitement of the Cohorted Beauty box, I expect you've already seen lots of posts and know what was in the box. Have you seen any posts about people who got the special boxes though? I knew, when I ordered, that 5 out of the 100 boxes, would contain a very special extra product. Of course I never thought it'd be me...

'The Book of You' by Claire Kendal - A Book review

Time for some chatter about a book, and a rather good book at that - I had an inkling when I was offered the chance to review it, and I'm glad I was right.
It's rather hard to explain, considering how much I enjoyed this book, why it's taken me longer than I'd have liked to write this post - Books are among my favourite things to review but there's something about putting the post together, I struggle to get all of those thoughts that live in my head, about these fantastic books, and bring them outside of my head. Yeah, I'm sounding a bit loopy, sorry for that.

I guess, what I mean is, I love reading a book when I know I'm going to review it because it means I pay even more attention and I think about how much other people may like it, as well as how much I do. But externalising those thoughts is harder. That said, this is one of the reasons why I want to review More books, because books are a massive part of my life (how else would I have read more than 25 in less than two months) and I want to share that on here even more, because of that.

I'm digressing, again, aren't I? Ok... Ok... Deep breath, it's review time.

Glossybox UK - Unboxing/Review - February 2015

It's Glossybox time! Only this morning I was thinking, I hadn't seen anything come up on Facebook about dispatch day so was wondering when the boxes were due and, lo and behold, my postie arrived a little while later with that all familiar box sporting the Glossbox logo!

Birchbox UK - Unboxing/Review - February 2015

I was rather pleased that my Birchbox came through my door quite early, this month, as all of the beauty boxes have seemed to be getting later and later recently. I'd managed to avoid all spoilers, yay, and couldn't wait to see what the February box had to offer.

I like my box, I'm not crazy about it, but it's got some great items in it, and some great brands. If you love the box (or other combinations you've seen) then you can sign up with my referral link and you'll get £5 worth of points to spend in the Birhcbox shop, and I'll get the same, the link is:

Valentines gift ideas - Pampering beauty from Roger & Gallet - The Fleur d'Osmanthus fragrance

Perfume is a pretty traditional gift idea when it comes to Valentines day and, for me, Roger & Gallet are absolute masters in fragrance - I'm, now, in love with three of their scents and I expect there's more I've just not smelled yet. But don't just stop at perfume, when it comes to this brand it's well worth looking at a range of their products, be it for a gift for your loved one or something nice for yourself to prepare for a night out on that romantic day.

I was, originally, offered the rose scent which they do which is an obvious one for Valentines, being such an iconic scent when it comes to romance. But, as I've said before, sadly rose now gives me headaches so I had to decline. Imagine my joy when I was offered a different fragrance, to try out, and let you know about for this Valentines day.

It's endless isn't it? In the best way, Makeup Revolution are endless, their product releases are relentless, they just keep coming! Another new release to share with you, today, two new palettes were released yesterday; the 'Iconic Pro 1' and the 'Iconic Pro 2'. I'm really pleased to be able to share the 'Iconic Pro 2' with you today, when I knew I was going to be sent one of them I was hopeful it'd be 2, and it was!

Also, before I get started, I'd love to know if any of you had noticed that these seem to be a good dupe for a brand we can't, easily, get in the UK?

Indulge your loved one with a gift from Hotel Chocolat this Valentines day

Hotel Chocolat is a place of heaven for me; ever since my Mum introduced me to their stores many years ago I have been a little bit in love with the ability to step off the high street and in to a world where the walls are lined with chocolates so beautiful that you don't know where to look. Their flavours are phenomenal, the quality of their chocolate fantastic and just the atmosphere of their stores; walking in to a completely different reality where it's calm and soothing and filled with chocolate - Surely that's the dream right there?
If being asked to write about these amazing products wasn't enough, I was also asked to pick a blogger friend to be sent the same box of chocolates that I was - If you want to know who my Hotel Chocolat blogger valentine was then check here: Shhhh it's a secret!
