Primark Haul - June 2015

Feels like a long time since I did a Primark haul, but that'd be because it's been a long time since I've been to town - As ever, same reason, health is taking its toll and I've been stuck in the house a lot. But more, joyful, blood tests early last week meant we were near town, anyway, so Primark seemed like an obvious choice.
I didn't buy much because I've bought a few pieces of clothing since I put weight on, to give myself some more comfortable things to wear. But I'm now back to losing a bit of weight and feel like I'm in between sizes a bit. That said, I am loving oversized clothing so going to work from the premise that I'll keep wearing them when I am back down a size, or at least that's the hope.

Fantastic geek tees from Tostadora - Big Hero 6 and Lion King/Game of Thrones mashup

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted about geek tees. I posted, a long time back, about some Disney and Doctor Who mash-up tees which I fell in love with and, then a fantastic Big Bang Theory tee, and had every intention of posting regular posts about my awesome finds. And then I didn't. Believe it or not I've bought a lot of geek tees since then, we buy from sites that tend to do two-four designs a day (sometimes two), and then once they're gone they're gone.

If I have an impressive geek tee collection then Azii has an astronomical one, it's probably the thing he's bought most of over the past three years. Lucky him, though, can still wear all of his, a lot of mine are in the size small and I'm not a small any more. I'm a medium, except I've taken to wearing a large because my restricted mobility in my arms means that getting something fitted on and off is very, very difficult.

I need to go through and see which tees I can and can't still wear and maybe put together a bit of a post of my favourites to share with you some of the finds I've had over the years.

But, as always, I digress. Today I am here to talk to you about geek tees from a particular brand. When I was given the chance to review tees for you... my goodness I couldn't say 'Yes Please!' quick enough!

Win a Magnitone Lucid - Collaborative Competition

I'm really pleased to be able to take part in a fantastic giveaway that gives all of you the chance to win a fantastic prize. With summer making itself known we all want to be able to have fresh, glowing skin, and one of the most popular ways to get this is by using a facial brush, such as the Magnitone Lucid.

A group of us have come together to give you the chance to win one of these, and I'm loving it because this is something I've been using for the past few weeks and it's done wonders for my skin. Less breakouts, smoother and brighter looking skin has actually happened for me, and believe me I hadn't wanted to hope too much when I started using it. It's, also, rechargeable, it takes 12 hours to charge but lasts for around 2 weeks on that charge - I love that it's rechargeable as I hate wasting money on batteries in items like this.

The Magnitone Lucid comes in at an RRP of £69.99, but of course this is a competition, so thanks to the following bloggers, and of course myself, one of you lucky people will be winning one instead!

To be in with a chance of winning just let us know:
What is your best skincare tip?

Good luck!

(The question is the only mandatory entry but all of the others do, of course, give you more chances to win).

Freedom Makeup - First Thoughts and swatches - Lipsticks, Pro Melts and Pro Butter glosses

If you've already seen my Freedom Makeup first haul post you'll know I've got a number of great products to share with you over the coming week. I decided that I'd show you some more detailed pictures, and some swatches, of the lip products that I picked up in my order as I thought you'd like to see the formulas and the shades.

Keep your skin safe from the sun with Cosmetics from House of Fraser - Including Clinique, Mac and Kiehls

I'm looking out the window and I can't help but smile, Summer is well and truly breaking through the grey. I never used to be a summer person, hayfever and super pale skin made me want to hide in the house all of the time but, these days, I love the warmth that comes with Summer, the feeling of sunlight on my skin (though I still can't cope when it gets too hot). I think most of us are, totally, aware of how dangerous that feeling of sun on your skin is, though.

Sun care products are so, so important at this time of year, and when we have such fantastic beauty products that can give us a gorgeous tan rather than risking the sun exposure, it seems crazy to not invest in some products that'll keep you skin safe. I have some favourite body and facial skin care products, already, so when I was asked to look at beauty products that House of Fraser offer which have sun care in them I couldn't wait to look in to what cosmetics could give us that extra layer of protection.

Great Gizmos - Meadow Kids Mini Stencils set - Review

For a while now I've been wanting to do more posts with Ethan, some more reviews and the likes, I miss when he used to have a bigger focus on the blog. As such when we were given the chance to review the Meadow Kids Mini Stencils set from Great Gizmos I thought it'd be a great way to get him involved, again, and find something nice to do together.

First thoughts and swatches - Freedom Makeup eye shadow palettes in 'Audacious 3' and 'Le Fabuleux'

I asked, in my Freedom Makeup haul post, what you'd like to see in more detail first and a number of people were really interested in the eye shadow palettes so that made that decision an easy one! I'm going to say this now, this is going to be a Very photo heavy post so I'm going to try not to write too much.

I like these eye shadow palettes a lot. The ranges of shades is beautiful and they both seem to have a nice balance with mattes, satin shades (which are somewhere between a matte and a shimmer), lighter shimmers and then a couple with some glittery shimmer too. The pigmentation is fantastic, only the palest shades don't show up too well in swatches, but that's not due to pigmentation rather the colour of my skin! I think you're going to like these, a lot. They're £4 each and there's a few of them, on the site, which are well worth checking out.

My Freedom Makeup haul - Including eyeshadow palettes, lip products, blush and more

Following the launch of Freedom Makeup I just found myself needing to order some products to find out what more of their new releases were like. I had some birthday money left so I went a bit mad and ordered lots! I accidentally ordered two of one of the products so what's listed here is worth £30.50.

My gentle attempts at weight loss in 2015

This post has been on the back-burner for a while, now, as I've had a few attempts to lose some weight but it's felt, somewhat, impossible due to some of the medication I was on. As such, now that I'm not able to take that medication anymore, I feel like I can talk more confidently about my weight loss because I have, actually, lost some weight!
I've tried a few different things; I'm somewhat limited in what I can attempt due to our home set-up and needing to feed more than just myself, plus the exercise that I can do is very limited by my reduced mobility. As such I wanted to share some of my attempts with you, and explain what they are, how they work and my thoughts on them.
Firstly I want to mention 5:2 diets. I've heard a lot about them, I know a lot of people who succeed with them and a lot that don't (which is a recurring theme with 'dieting' because we're all so different). A 5:2 diet means eating healthily, within the normal daily calorie limit, 5 days a week and then reducing your calories down to 500 a day for two days a week. I didn't do too well with this method because I suffer from low blood sugar levels, and because the medication I was on gave me hunger pangs so strong that I was in so much pain it made me miserable. But this is a system I'd like to try again in the future because, now that my appetite is better, I feel like I might have a chance.

Birchbox UK - June 2015 - Unboxing / Review

Subscription box time is here again, yay. Birchbox made it here, first, this month and they did so with a rather beautiful box! There was a choice of boxes, this month, and I was very pleased to get the water colour floral box that I had asked for. The box also came with a shoe bag in a matching fabric which is beautiful (It may become home for my camera cleaning kit as the bag for that has just broken)

As always, if you decide to subscribe I'd really appreciate if you followed my link as you'll get £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop and I'll get the same! My link:

Freedom Makeup - Pro Blush & Highlight Palette in 'Bronze and Baked' - With swatches

The last, new, product I've got to show you, for today, is the 'Pro Blush & Highlight' palette in 'Bronze and Baked' - I do love blushes and highlighters but I don't use bronzers very often. I do think, though, that this could be a lovely balance between all three that'll help me add some colour to my face in the warmer months.

Freedom Makeup - New Release - Pro Red Lipstick collection with swatches

I've been really excited to find out what the formula of the lipsticks from, new brand, Freedom Makeup is like, so when I was sent their Red Lipstick collection I was rather pleased. I don't wear reds very much, anymore but this range has a nice selection of shades which ranges from pinkier shades, to some more orange toned reds.

Freedom is coming! New launch of Freedom Makeup coming soon - Teaser pics included!

Just a quick one because I have products to go and swatch but I just wanted to take a moment to share something rather exciting with you. I can't begin to explain the buzz I get when I'm allowed to share something completely new, and very exciting with you, and that's what I'm doing today!

You may already seen some teasers and some sneak peaks, and I've got a few more to share with you - All from the exciting new brand Freedom Makeup! It's safe to say, Freedom is coming!

Gorgeous illuminated mirrors from Pebble Grey*

Pebble Grey (*sp) is a company that sells absolutely gorgeous bathroom items that just scream glamour and sophistication. Their mirrors are just beautiful so imagine how hard it was, for me, to only be able to ask for one of the compacts when I was asked to write about them, and offered a review item as well. I'd Love one of their amazing wall mounted mirrors but we have absolutely nowhere to put one. Thankfully the compact mirrors are fantastic, too, and I'm really, really pleased with mine.

Summer nails with OPI - The Hawaii 'Little Hulas Mini Pack' from JustMyLook*

Alright so I'm pushing the boundaries a little by talking about summer where, if the weather is the same there as it is here, it's grey and rainy. But hey, if we can't use beauty to add a little brightness in to our lives, when it's like this, then when can we?

I was asked to write about a site called JustMyLook (sp*), who I'd never heard of before, by showing you the new mini collection which showcases the 2015 S/S Hawaii range from OPI - I love bargain beauty sites and I Love OPI nail polishes so it was a bit of a win win. I've been checking out the full range of OPI polishes over on the site and I have to say I am a little tempted, they come in at £8.35 each, with free delivery and there's a huge range of shades on there (I'm, of course, drawn in by the mauves, dusky shades and the glitters but don't tell my husband, I'm not allowed more nail polishes, I just gave away a lot).
