This was supposed to be a Christmas gift idea post but, according to the website, last delivery for Christmas has passed so I can’t recommend that you get these as gifts this year (the item only arrived yesterday so, for once, it’s, not me being bogged down that’s delayed the post). What I can do, though, is tell you my thoughts on the item as a general gift idea, and share an awesome quiz, which results in a money off code, as well.

My goodness it really is nearly Christmas, isn’t it! We don’t have decorations up, yet, but the boys have been opening their advent calendars, the presents were all bought weeks ago and most of them are already wrapped, Oliver’s been wearing his Christmas bibs and Ethan’s finished school, there’s no denying that it’s nearly here.

As organised as I am, there’s one thing I’ve not done, this year, or for the past few, and that’s something special for the cats. Now I know it’s easy to say that, once you have children, your priorities shift, but I do feel bad that I used to go out of my way to include the cats in our celebrations and now they don’t get as much fuss.

When Whiskas asked me to write, for you, about our cats at Christmas, and my memories of past Christmas’ with them it really got me thinking about it all and I definitely want to go back to including them like we used to.

Being a member of a variety of beauty groups and parenting groups, online, means that I have heard of foot masks/socks, which cause your feet to peel, a number of times. The brand, Footner. got mentioned from time to time and I have to say I was both intrigued and a little unsure.

When I was given the opportunity to trial a set of ‘Footner Exfoliating Socks‘, though, it seemed obvious that I had to give them a go. I walk bare foot a lot, in the house, and my feet aren’t in the best shape. Additionally my newer health issues seem to have caused some foot issues so, due to that, I am happy to try anything to improve them, even if it is something a little unusual!

I’ve tried a number of products on my feet over the years and there’s been many that I’ve loved, from eletronic foot files to fish pedicures, I’ve tried a lot. I’ve never tried anything quite like these though.
The idea behind this product is that you put your foot in to these plastic socks which are filled with a gel-like fluid and you leave them on for an hour and that’s all you need to do. 1-7 days later all of the old, dead skin on your feet begins to peel off.
In the box you get a sachet with a pair of the socks along with the instructions and that’s all that you need – No additional products, nothing abrasive, nothing but the socks.
You cut along the top of the socks, which is good, as it means that the liquid is totally sealed inside before you open them up. I was worried that the process would be really messy but it wasn’t ar all, once your feet at inside there’s a little sticky tab to help keep them on and closed up which means that the liquid doesn’t leak everywhere. The recommend putting your own socks over the top, which I did, and I found that that helped to keep the socks on, with the liquid pressed against my skin, and also warm my feet up whilst they soaked in the cold, gloopy liquid.
Wearing them was the oddest feeling. They were cold and squishy and every time I moved my foot they felt colder and wetter – The hour didn’t feel like it lasted too long, though, and I was intrigued enough by the outcome to make sure I kept them on for the full time.
The box states that 1-7 days after application your skin will start to come away so when I reached day 5 and nothing had happened at all I told my husband that I was worried I’d not be able to review these too well. You can probably guess what happened when day 6 rolled around, I suddenly felt like my feet felt odd, took of my sock and it looked like I had had sun burn on my feet and the skin was peeling away.
I am writing this on day 7 and I think a lot of it has come away now. The box says that by day 10 it should all be gone and that’ll be nice because, as the moment, it’s endless. It is, though, totally worth it. When the skin peels away what’s left underneath is so so soft. What has been layers of super thick skin on my feet are suddenly so much less built up, so much smoother and softer and I feel like my feet are in the best condition.
If you want to have nice feet for the holiday season so that you can wear some nice shoes, then this could well be the way forward. Of course you need to do it with plenty of time to spare, you wouldn’t want to be wearing some pretty sandals with this process still happening, but it’s definitely something that gets results (just don’t be impatient like me!).
You can buy a set of these from Boots or Superdrug for ¬£19.99 which isn’t a small price, but this isn’t a short term fix so it makes the price seem much more worth while. I definitely think I’ll get another set of these in 6 months time, or so, to try and keep on top of the skin on my feet. I am very impressed and am looking forward to having super soft feet this Christmas.

I always told myself, ¬†before Oliver was born, that I wouldn’t get him too many toys. They don’t need so many toys when they’re little, at least Ethan never did. When Ethan was a baby (almost 7 years ago, eek), he didn’t mind toys, he liked them a bit but definitely didn’t need as many as he had and that’s how I came to make the resolution that I did on Oliver’s behalf, before I knew Oliver.

Turns out some babies do need toys, some babies love toys so much that they get incredibly excited every time they get a new toy and they really, really, engage with and play with toys. Oliver is one of these second babies, he just can’t get enough of toys. As such an opportunity to trial some of Leapfrog‘s newest toys, this Christmas, made me very very happy.

For Black Friday H&M did a great offer of 25% off and free delivery on all orders. I’ve really come to love H&M over the past year, or so, and I love picking up bits and bobs for myself and the children when there’s a good offer on,or when there’s something in particular that we need.

This is a very picture heavy post, so if there’s any particular category you’d rather see I’m going in the order of home, beauty, my clothing and then baby clothing. I got some great things and 25% off makes it even more of a good deal than normal.
