We're seeing a return to the standard Birchbox design, this month, which we haven't had for a while. I do like the drawer boxes, and the pretty designs, but it is nice to see the old familiar box back.
Instead of a design on the box, though, there's a nice change in that there's text on the bag that the products arrive in. I really like the colour of the font, and the actual script used, it makes a nice change from the plain bag and it's one I'll definitely keep.
And here's what I got in the box - A nice mix of hair care, body care, skincare and makeup which is something that I always like. No new brands for me, this month, I've owned things from all of these brands before, but some new products and ones that I'm glad to be able to try out.
I've used lots of Balance Me skincare products but I've never used a primer by them before. When I consider how much I like their oils, serums and creams I expect good things from this 'Instant Lift Primer', it's only a small sample but you don't need a lot for a primer so I won't hold that against it.
Next I got a sample of the Caudalie 'Vine[Activ] Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum' which is, again, only a small sample, but again with this sort of product you don't need huge amounts in order to give it a good trial run. I like Caudalie products but I do feel like I get them a lot in boxes so it'd be nice to get some other brands in the future.
Body care wise we have a 'Foaming Shower Gel' from Rituals - I haven't dispensed any product from this, yet, so I don't know what the sent is like but the description says it's 'brimming with cherry blossom' so I would expect this has a soft floral scent. I'm not huge on floral scents but if they're gentler then I don't mind as much. I'll certainly try this out as I love the idea of a foaming shower gel.
The makeup product is a Benefit 'Double The Lip' lipsticks in the shade 'Lusty Rose' and this was the item I was looking forward to seeing. This was the spoiler item for the box and it was also the item that we got to pick ourselves, there was either a brighter pink or a more rose coloured pink and I went for the rosier shade.
The packaging of this is really rather nice, it's the same shape as the 'They're Real' liner but in a dark grey rather than the black. It's a really nice looking tube and even the box is rather pretty too.
And this is why I was intrigued by the product - The 'Double The Lip' concept is really interesting, the bullet is mostly made up of a lipstick but it has a teardrop shape to it and the pointed end is made up of a slightly darker lip liner, the idea being that you can line and fill your lips in one move.
I think you can see, just to the right of this swatch, where the liner is a bit darker, but it's not overly so. I am really interested to see how this translates to the lips and am really pleased with the colour that I picked.
The last item that I got is a sample sized can of a new product from Batiste - The '2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner'. The moment I saw this I was intrigued. As someone with chronic health issues I'm not able to wash my hair as much as I want and I rely heavily on dry shampoo so the idea of something that both makes the hair look cleaner And more nourished is a real winner for me. This is exactly the sort of sample I get excited about as I will definitely be getting a full size of this if it's as good as I'm hoping.
And that's the box. I like the variety of products and although the samples aren't huge they're all perfectly usable and of the sort of size needed for a trial of that type of product. I am looking forward to trying out pretty much everything this month and, as always, looking forward to seeing what next month's box brings.
