I was very, very pleased to find a package containing five of the new Renaissance Lipsticks from Makeup Revolution on my doorstep yesterday. I was browsing the Tam Beauty website, just a couple of days ago, and these caught my eye so being able to try a few out, and share them with you, made me very happy!
Just as a little mention, I’m working with a new camera so some of my photos are struggling with light and I’m working on how to improve that so please bare with me. You should be able to get a good impression of the lipsticks, still, and the swatches came out perfectly.
First things first, these lipsticks are pretty! Really, really pretty! They are in a heavy feeling, metal, rose gold coloured casing and they have a really strong vintage feel to them. Makeup Revolution packaging has always been pretty good, for the price, but these take it to a whole new level!
They have that ridged effect that you see on vintage style lipsticks and it looks nice! I can’t say I’d ever considered how good that style can look, before, but in rose gold, in good quality materials, I am impressed!
I was sent a wide variety of shades from this range, as you can see, from a super dark purple, to some more neutral colours, a really red, red and a couple of more neutral shades in between. These lipsticks cost £4 each over on the Tam Beauty site, which is more than the most basic Makeup Revolution range, but from both packaging and swatches I can totally see why.
From left to right we have ‘Exempt’, ‘Greatest’, ‘Lifelong’, ‘Luxe’ and ‘Classic’.
Going around the photos are in the same order with ‘Exempt’ at the top and going around clockwise. As you can see, Exempt is so so dark that it almost looks black in the bullet.
The shades are in the same order, again, ‘Exempt’, ‘Greatest’, ‘Lifelong’, ‘Luxe’ and ‘Classic’. All the formulas are a creamy texture and my goodness they applied so easily, I didn’t have to over work these at all for the swatches, they went on this well almost instantly.
I’ve worn ‘Greatest’ for a few hours and it felt amazing on the lips, so soft and creamy and not drying in the slightest. I even forgot that I was wearing it so when my lips were a little stained this morning I was a bit confused. Talking of staining, they do leave some colour behind when they come off, I wiped these swatches off with a baby wipe and the darker colours left quite the stain with the paler colours leaving just a little colour behind.
I think that this bodes well for wear as it means they’re more likely to still look good as they wear off because they’ll leave some colour behind and become less patchy.
Let me know if you’d like some photos of these on the lips, I’m planning on doing it but very much depends on how I get a handle on the new camera and whether or not the sun decides to come out to play or not! On the lip swatches always look better in daylight!
All in all, though, I am really impressed with these lipsticks and the range is really intriguing. There are 20 shades, in total, so there’s bound to be shades for everyone. For me the two that I love are ‘Greatest’ and ‘Lifelong’, the others are gorgeous but not quite to my tastes.
I’d love to know what you think of these either if you’ve tried them or just based on what you’ve seen online.
