Welcome to my first, proper, post on my brand new blog! Everything should be working properly now and it’s all rather beautiful – I’m thrilled! And what better way to welcome you back to (hopefully) more regular posting than with some celebratory chocolate? And from Hotel Chocolat no less!
When you’re asked if you’d like to try out something tasty from Hotel Chocolat it’s very, very hard to say no, even if you’re cutting down on sugar. When I was asked if I wanted to try one of the monthly ‘Tasting Club’ boxes I was intrigued, I mean a chocolate subscription box? Just wow.
I opted to try the ‘Mellow’ Tasting Club box as I much prefer gentler milk and white chocolate than darker, more intense recipes and this box certainly catered for that. The chocolates included are amazing – They range from Pecan Praline to Chai Latte and a Simple Milk Truffle to Butterscotch fingers. Yum, yum and yum!
A box, in the Tasting Club, is normally £22.95 but, at the moment, you can get your first box at the special price of £9.95 plus a free bag of ‘Gemstones’ which are a mix of white and dark chocolate (and I can tell you that, even though I’m not a fan of dark chocolate for the most part, these are tasty!) – So if you’ve ever been tempted by the subscription service now would be the time to sign up!
And this is what’s in the box! So many beautiful chocolates which include ones I already know and love amongst some I’ve been itching to try. From top left going down, and then across, we have Peach & Jasmine, Coconut Macadamias, Caramel Chocolate Pot, Banoffee Pie, Chai Latte, Pecan Praline, Mango, Simple Milk Truffle, Raspberry Pannacotta, Praline Crisp, a huge Milk and Cookies slab and, lastly, a trio of Butterscotch fingers.
I love the variety of fruity, nutty, spicy and just generally different flavours in here. I like that dark elements are at a minimum and for a milk and white chocolate lover this is absolutely spot on. This is the sort of collection you could share with the whole family as it’s alcohol free and kids would be bound to love the slab amongst many others.
I love the praline ones, the raspberry pannacotta and the slab but, to be honest, I don’t think there’s a single chocolate in this selection that I don’t like. I was a little sceptical about Peach & Jasmine but it was a delicious surprise.
These subscription boxes are a great gift idea for yourself, your whole family or maybe for a loved one at Christmas or for their Birthday and whilst you can get the first box for such a reduced price it’s also a massive bargain too!
If you’re starting to look for more Christmas gift ideas then check out some of my previous Hotel Chocolat posts, for ideas of what to expect when you’re out shopping! The ‘Merry Little Christmas’ hamper from last year and the ‘Milk to Caramel Sleekster’ I tried out in 2015.
